What is a Volunteer Vacation?  It's the latest and greatest trend in "Voluntourism".

Defined, it means:

The conscious, seamlessly integrated combination of voluntary service to a destination and the best, traditional elements of travel — arts, culture, geography, history and recreation — in that destination.

Basically, you get to travel to a destination to volunteer with an organization all the while enjoying the sites, history and recreation of that area.
