The Grants Pass based non-profit organization Clean Forest Project received a $2,000 grant to its Education Program and for Community Clean Ups from the Medford based Carpenter Foundation. Clean Forest Project’s mission is to engage the community in combating the epidemic of illegal dumping on public lands and in educating the public on the hazardous effects of illegal dumping.
“We are very excited and affirmed by the support of the Carpenter Foundation. It’s another huge step to getting community involvement for our cause,” said Julie Lockman, Executive Director for Clean Forest Project. “We’ll be able to put these funds to immediate use in our Education Program.”
The Carpenter Foundation, which celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2008, is a private family foundation devoted to human services, education, the arts and public interest issues in Jackson and Josephine counties.
Clean Forest Project invites community members to join in a cleanup for the Rogue Valley Humane Society on Saturday, February 28th at Granite Hill Rd. in Grants Pass starting at 9 a.m. This cleanup will allow the Humane Society to be able to take in large animals after a barn on their property is cleaned out.
